Don't Tell Me What To Do!

The below story in about West Hollywood banning cat and dogs sales. Personally I could care less where a person gets his dog--at a pet store or from an animal shelter. That's his choice and not mine. This post is about the right of personal choice, a right that is vanishing because many on the left want to make those choices for you. Yes, they know what's best and they are out to make sure that you followed the guidelines laid down by them and walk in their footsteps. These people are the liberal progressives whose values, whose ideas and whose dreams must be imposed by law on all those who will not accept them for what they are---the road to some great Utopia where everyone acts and thinks alike all for the good of the collective. In their "Brave New World" individualism is evil and unacceptable and must be replaced by collectivism.

These elite "know it alls", will continue to force their thoughts, their ideas and their values down our throats as long as we sit idly by and do nothing. Until that time when we stand together and say, "don't tell me what to do"!

West Hollywood Moves to Ban Dog, Cat Sales

The vote to ban the sale of dogs and cats in this famously liberal enclave will likely have more bark than bite, since no pet stores in the city currently sell animals.

But officials hope that Tuesday's unanimous city council vote will be seen beyond West Hollywood as a symbolic stand against puppy mills and kitten factories.

"You have to start somewhere," said Michael Haibach, deputy to Councilman Jeffrey Prang, who sponsored the legislation. "The more people who jump on the bandwagon the better."

This famously quirky city has a reputation as a trailblazer in animal welfare rights.

It became the first city in the country to prohibit cat declawing in 2003, a measure that has since spread to dozens of other cities, including Los Angeles. Another West Hollywood ordinance officially terms pets as "companion animals" and gives their "guardians" a local tax deduction for pet adoption fees.

Since the pet sales ordinance was introduced earlier this month, the city has received dozens of inquiries from other municipalities across the country interested in replicating it, Haibach said. Some information requests came from Europe, he said.

Pet shops would only be permitted to offer animals from shelters for sale once West Hollywood's ordinance goes into effect in September. South Lake Tahoe adopted a similar ban last year.

Advocates for the pet industry said such ordinances are misguided because they do not tackle the source of the problem — irresponsible commercial breeders who keep animals in deplorable conditions.

"It's not going after the substandard breeders," said Michael Maddox, vice president of governmental affairs for the Pet Industry Joint Advisory Council in Washington, D.C. "A pet store doesn't get you very far. We support people's right to get their pet from the best source that suits them."

At West Hollywood's D.O.G. Pet Boutique, co-owner Christian Velasco said he is against selling puppy-mill dogs that are sold to stores for $20 to $30 then resold to the public for hundreds of dollars.

"We could make a lot of money doing that, but we don't think it's right," Velasco said.

Instead, the store refers customers to shelters and allows a rescue agency to bring its animals to the store for adoption. Story from FOX News.

One last word, I know some would say if you live in West Hollywood and want a dog from a pet store, just go into Los Angles and buy one. That's great for the time being you can do that, but if these radicals are allowed to have their way they would extend this coast to coast and in a few short years all the dogs at the animal shelters would begin to look the same. Strangely that's exactly what they have in mind for us--think alike, act alike and eventually look alike---mindless robots following a few chosen elites!!!

Young People May be Sorry They Voted for Obama

One thing I have learned over the years is that young people do NOT like being told what to do. And those in 18 to 35 group are going to be told they have to buy insurance coverage or else.... This group of young voters was one of the groups that supported and voted for Obama in the largest numbers. I doubt they will appreciate the president taking money from their pockets to pay for something they feel they don't need at this point in their life. Welcome to the real world of progressivism young folks, this is just the beginning of things you will not like. And something else guys this huge debt that Obama and gang are running up; I won't have to pay it off, no not me, it belongs to you and your kids. Yes, you voted for Obama and now you have to live in Obama's world. I would say it fitting. So buckle up and get ready for the rough ride into your future into that Utopian dream of Obama's Brave New World.

Young adults are in for a wake-up call if health care reform passes.

For the first time ever, the federal government is going to require that everybody obtain health insurance coverage. For those who have insurance through their employers, the so-called individual mandate may have very little impact. But for young adults, many of whom are not currently covered, the health care bill will add a new and costly expense to their budgets.

"The Census Bureau tells us there are 18 million people between the ages of 18 and 35 who are uninsured -- roughly half of the uninsured population are younger people in that age group," said Anne Kim, with the non-profit think tank Third Way.

The individual mandate has teeth to it, and anyone who refuses to get coverage will be fined under the health care package.

Obama: Your Phone is Ringing!

Will Obama answer the wake-up call of the Christmas terrorist. Or will he continue to bask in his smug arrogance and view Islamic terrorism as a small nuisance that can be easily swatted away. Something that is feared only by those who oppose his grandiose plans for a new America. Something his real enemy, the old American patriot, is using only as a diversion to obstruct his path toward a new order. A order than will last a thousand years. No, president Obama will not answer the call for he sees no real danger from the forces of radical Islam. To him these forces are marginal in the grand scheme of things. He is after all the commander of the most powerful force the world has ever seen, the American Armed Forces. He could turn the desert sands of the Arabian peninsula to glass tomorrow, but that would not fit into his master plan. A plan that in the end will bring global peace and a new collectivism the likes of which the world has never seen. Under his Utopian system the Arab will lay down his scimitar and the Bibles and Korans will gather dust as the new collective emerges.

Barack Obama will never answer the call of the Christmas terrorist for his calling is one of destiny. A destiny he believes is his and one that no small group of extremist will disrupt. The few hundreds or even the few thousands of deaths that these mad men may cause is nothing when compared to the billions he will save from themselves. Barack is a man above the fray, above the petty conflicts of our times, he is the one who will lead the way, he is the great trail blazer who will show the way to that "Brave New World".
